So far, I’ve hiked the Appalachian Trail, the Pacific Crest Trail, The Long Trail (Vermont), and some of the Continental Divide Trail.
I developed an abiding interest in hiking when I began climbing the 4000+ foot mountains of New Hampshire; there are 48 of them. After those, I climbed the rest of the 4000 footers in New England (five in Vermont, fourteen in Maine). This year, I tackle the Adirondacks in upstate NY (46).
I’ve written, on and off, most of my life and in the last few years have written three hiking novels (working on a fourth). My first hiking novel, The Trail (Appalachian Trail thriller) was traditionally published by Turner Publishing in October, 2015. The second novel in my AWOL thriller series, Sierra (Pacific Crest Trail) was released in October 2016. Book three, The Divide, takes place along the mighty Continental Divide Trail and released in September 2020. I’ve done a radio column on hiking and have written columns for the Appalachian Mountain Club (AMC) newsletter. I’ve also blogged for Hingham, MA “Patch.”
I’m married and have three children. Happy to say, my wife, Nancy, has stood by me all the way.
